The Pet Prescription Team has had a very active year so we would like to take this page to share with you all the activities we have been involved with in 2009. We also thought it would be fun to share some of the pictures we took along the way of the members and their dogs. From Therapy visits to fundraisers our dogs have happily followed along with us and through it all we have had some wonderful memories created that will last a lifetime.
The Pet Prescription Team invited the residents of the Season's in La Habra to take a field-trip to watch an Agility Demo at Gittalong Little Doggie training facility. The Pet Prescription Team had a wonderful turnout for the La Habra Heights Parade and demo. Our float was a hit and Marvin did a wonderful job of pulling it along the parade route. We won a 1st place trophy that we cherish. Our day went well with raising funds for our organization. Many members gave of their time selling raffle tickets around the festival site. The residents truly enjoyed seeing all of the dogs dressed up for Halloween. We made sure that we took many pictures with each resident. We had all the pictures developed and then brought them back to the facility to hand out to each resident. In some cases it's the only picture that many of them have had of themselves taken in years. It puts a big smile on all of their faces...
Fundraisers are a new concept for us this year. In many ways it came to us through generous donations from Sergeant's, Hartz and the Kong company. All three companies donated countless dog toys to us to raise funds for the Pet Prescription Team. Hartz in particular donated a complete skid of toys. We are very thankful to Laura and John Meno who made this connection for us and because of their efforts we have used the toys to solicit donation for our organization. Our Christmas party this year was great fun. We started with some awesome food that everyone pitched in to bring. We had some special awards and presentations to honor many of our volunteers. We also presented the; Volunteer Of The Year Award which went to Jeanette for all her hard work in getting donations from restaurants throughout the city. Our goal as a Pet Therapy organization is to touch lives through our pets. Many of the residents at the facilities where we visit have no one visit them during the Holiday Seasons. We try to have the largest turnouts to the facilities during the Holiday Season. We have a day that we take pictures with the residents and have the pictures developed and then bring them back to the residents with a special card. It truly is what the Pet Prescription Team is all about and that is healing hearts through our pets. As I reflect back over this past year I have nothing but fond memories of all that we have experienced as an organization. I feel so blessed to be touched by so many of you and your dogs and I stand in amazement of all of your commitment and willingness to volunteer. I do believe there are great things ahead of us not only as we grow our organization but as we continue to share with others our gift which is our animals. Truly we will never know what exactly it is about our animals that can heal and comfort those we visit but it’s always evident each and every time we visit. Hopefully each one of you know that you have given the greatest gift of all this past year and may all of you be blessed with a wonderful Christmas Holiday.
